Labour of Love

After countless hours of dreaming on just how grand the previously run down building could be again we decided to make this dream come true.

Investment

Purchase of property and grounds and heavily reinvested into renovation works so far.

History Preserved

We have worked extensively with specialised trades persons to have original parts restored or reproduced for future generations.

Windows & Walls

All windows restored. Entire building was repainted inside and out. Extensive Solid plaster and render repairs.

Floors

Flooring throughout was sanded and re-oiled. Luxurious new carpet installed in all bedrooms.

Modern Upgrades

Building was completely electrically rewired. Heating and cooling installed. Renewed plumbing throughout.

Thoughtfully, tastefully and well crafted restoration to a unique piece of history to the area. What delight to stay!... We stayed with large group and the Convent had not only the space we needed but also the intimacy for dinners and balmy nights chatting around the fire pit. We would definitely recommend and will be back to enjoy again in the future!read more

Incredibly warm, inviting space. You’ll feel right at home the moment you walk in to the convent. Waking up to birds... chirping and crisp white sheets. Great facilities, brand new bathrooms, so clean. Excellent for a trip with friends or family.read more

Wow, what a place! Rutherglen Convent is beautiful and a fantastic place to stay with friends and family. The convent... has been beautifully restored and is so full of character and charm. It is also perfectly situated, being only a short stroll from shops, restaurants and pubs. We would definitely recommend staying here and will be back for another visit soon hopefully!read more

I have had the pleasure of staying at The Convent on several occasions, from the beginning of the restorations to its... current restored glory.The convent is rich, in not only its history but also the country atmosphere , making it a truly unique place to accommodate any gathering however big or small.My last visit was like walking through a welcoming home, large enough to contain the history of old & beautifully restored to bring in the exciting future of the new.This place is where memories were made & beautiful moments will be shared.read more

The Rutherglen convent is completely unique. With the history still flowing through the buildings, extravagant... architecture, the character has been beautifully and respectfully restored to make these buildings not just accommodation, but also a work of art. I cannot recommend this place more highly, the warmth, beauty, functionality and comfort will bring you and your family and or friends a magical experience. Beautifully restored building with plenty of room for large groups to stay. Feel quite privileged to have been able to... stay in such an amazing building. The location is perfect, we were able to walk into town each day and its got a number of wineries close by for those wanting to experience the local wine region. We stayed at the beautiful Rutherglen convent for a week over last New Years. The place itself is so thoughtfully... restored and the beds are really comfortable. All the amenities are new and in great condition. A great place to stay with friends, family and children. Close to heaps of delicious wineries and a short walk to the local pool or drive to the river if you need a dip. 10/10 would recommendread more
