10 Rooms, 20+ Guests
Built Circa 1927
Unique Group Accommodation
The Rutherglen Convent offers unique group accommodation in a thoughtfully-restored building that was once a boarding house, school and convent. Gracious, steeped in history and built circa 1927, the property is located in the heart of the Rutherglen wine-making district. Positioned within 550m of the main street you will be spoilt for choice with cafes, bakeries, wine bars and 3 pubs all within walking distance.
With its Gothic inspired architecture and old world charm, the building is spread over two expansive levels with the ground floor featuring a formal entry, kitchen, laundry and 8 main rooms with soaring ornate ceilings, fireplaces (disused) and leadlight windows. The upper level is accessed via two timber staircases and offers 10 bedrooms, with the option of an 11th bedroom, boarding room style bathroom with 22 basins, 4 private bathrooms and access to the elevated balconies offering 360 degree views of the surrounds. The ground floor features an outdoor grassed area with rock seating surrounding a fire-pit, perfect for those cooler nights.

“This place is more than what we expected. There was more than enough room to accommodate 20 of us there. Bedrooms are lovely with very comfy beds and bathrooms modern and clean. Great kitchen and dining area and the outside BBQ area is great for evening drinks. Everyone of us (young and old) all loved the Convent and raved about it to other relatives across the globe! Thanks Gina and Ben” – Lychee
